Swati Maliwal Celebrates Birthday with Rishi Sunak and Sudha Murty Over Delhi Chaat and Sweets

Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal marked her birthday with a special gathering alongside former British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and fellow Rajya Sabha MP Sudha Murty in the national capital.

Maliwal shared photographs from the meeting on social media, showing the three enjoying Delhi's popular snacks and traditional Indian sweets. In her post, she described the gathering as a wonderful afternoon spent with Sunak and Murty over chaat, rasmalai and laddoos.

The informal meeting attracted attention because it brought together three well-known public figures from politics and public life in a relaxed setting. Instead of a formal political event, the gathering offered a glimpse of their time together over familiar Indian food.

According to media reports, the group visited the popular Bengali Sweet House in Delhi's Bengali Market on October 14, 2026. The meeting took place during Sunak's visit to India.

Why was Rishi Sunak in India?

Sunak visited New Delhi to attend the Bloomberg New Economy Forum, held from October 13 to 15, 2026. The event brought together business leaders and policymakers to discuss the global economy and major international challenges.

During his visit, Sunak also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 13. The meeting added a formal diplomatic element to his visit, while his outing with Sudha Murty and Swati Maliwal offered a more informal glimpse of his time in India.

Sunak served as Britain's prime minister from October 2022 to July 2024. He is married to Akshata Murty, the daughter of Sudha Murty and Infosys co-founder N. R. Narayana Murthy.
