LPG Distributors Oppose Strike Calls Ahead of Rahul Gandhi’s Delhi Rally

The LPG distributors’ federation has urged dealers to ignore strike calls and continue normal deliveries ahead of Rahul Gandhi’s November 1 rally, citing ongoing talks with the government and oil companies.

LPG Distributors Oppose Strike Calls Ahead of Rahul Gandhi’s Delhi Rally

The Federation of LPG Distributors of India (FLDI) has opposed calls for protests and an indefinite strike in Delhi ahead of the INDIA bloc’s rally at Ramlila Maidan on November 1, 2026.

The federation has appealed to LPG dealers to continue supplying and delivering cylinders as usual, saying that consumers should not face any inconvenience during the festive season.

Why Is FLDI Opposing the Strike?

FLDI said it is already in talks with oil marketing companies (OMCs) and the Ministry of Petroleum to resolve distributors’ concerns. According to the federation, discussions are progressing and it has received assurances that the issues will be addressed.

The organisation believes that going on strike while talks are underway could be counterproductive. It has urged distributors not to respond to strike calls and to keep services running.

What Is Rahul Gandhi’s Rally About?

The INDIA bloc’s rally, led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, is scheduled for November 1 at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan. The opposition is protesting against alleged irregularities in voter lists and the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. It has also raised questions about Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

These are opposition allegations; the rally is intended to press the opposition’s demands.

Why Are Traders Also Concerned?

The Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) has separately asked Rahul Gandhi to postpone the rally until after November 10. The traders’ body estimates that disruptions to traffic and access to nearby markets could put around ₹10,000 crore in festive-season business at risk. This is the organisation’s estimate, not a confirmed loss.

For now, FLDI’s message is clear: whatever the political dispute, LPG distribution should continue without interruption so households are not affected.
