BJP leader Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh criticised Farooq Abdullah’s comments about Pakistan’s role in the Kashmir issue, saying Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India.

Brij Bhushan Hits Back at Farooq Abdullah Over Pakistan Remarks

A political row has erupted over National Conference president Farooq Abdullah’s remarks about Pakistan and the Kashmir issue. BJP leader Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh responded to Abdullah’s comments in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, saying Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) belongs to India.

Singh said Abdullah’s support for Pakistan’s position occasionally becomes visible. He added that Parliament and the Indian government do not consider PoJK separate from India.

Singh also claimed that the region would become part of India in the future and said Pakistan did not have the strength to fight India.

What Did Farooq Abdullah Say?

Farooq Abdullah made the remarks while addressing party workers in Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir. He said Pakistan’s efforts to raise the Kashmir issue at international forums had helped keep the issue alive.

His comments triggered criticism from BJP leaders, who accused him of taking a position favourable to Pakistan. Abdullah’s remarks have added to the political debate over India’s policy on Kashmir and Pakistan’s role in the dispute.

Why Is Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir a Sensitive Issue?

India considers Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir an integral part of the country. Pakistan controls the territory, and the dispute over Jammu and Kashmir has remained a major point of conflict between the two countries since Partition in 1947.

Both countries claim the region, and the Line of Control separates the areas under their respective control. The issue has led to wars, military confrontations and repeated diplomatic tensions.

What Happens Next?

Singh’s remarks reflect the BJP’s strong position on PoJK and its criticism of Abdullah’s comments. The latest exchange has once again brought the Kashmir dispute into the political spotlight.

While leaders continue to make strong statements, the wider dispute remains unresolved, with India and Pakistan maintaining opposing positions on the region.
