Anant Singh Hits Back at JD(U) After Six-Year Expulsion

After being expelled from JD(U) for six years, Mokama MLA Anant Singh hit back at party leaders, questioned their political strength and said he still respects Nitish Kumar.

Anant Singh Hits Back at JD(U) After Six-Year Expulsion

Bihar MLA Anant Singh has launched a sharp attack on the Janata Dal (United) after the party expelled him and his wife, former MLA Neelam Devi, for six years over alleged anti-party activities.

In an interview with News18, Singh said he had no regrets about being expelled and would not ask the party to take him back. He claimed he had done nothing wrong and warned that voters would show the party the consequences of its decision in the next election.

‘The Party Will Face the Consequences’

Singh questioned the current leadership of JD(U) and claimed that people who had contributed little to building the party were now controlling it. He predicted that the party would lose seats in future elections.

He also said he was not worried about the possibility of losing his Assembly membership. However, the final decision on his membership rests with the relevant constitutional process.

Singh Says He Still Respects Nitish Kumar

Despite his anger towards the party leadership, Singh said his respect for Nitish Kumar would remain unchanged.

He argued that the situation would have been different if Kumar had been in a position to make the decision himself. Singh also declined to criticise Nishant Kumar, saying he did not want to comment on him.

When asked about his political future, Singh said he had not yet decided whether to join another party or form his own.

Why Did JD(U) Expel Anant Singh?

JD(U) announced the action on October 24, 2026. The party accused Singh of repeatedly ignoring its instructions, using insulting language against senior leaders and campaigning for Jan Suraaj Party candidate Anuj Singh in the Bihar Legislative Council election.

Singh openly supported Anuj Singh against JD(U)'s official candidate, Neeraj Kumar, in the Patna Graduates’ constituency. The dispute deepened because of the long-running political rivalry between the two leaders.

The party also cancelled Neelam Devi’s primary membership over alleged involvement in anti-party activities.

JD(U) Seeks Action Against His Assembly Membership

JD(U) has also sought the termination of Singh’s membership as a legislator under the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution, which deals with disqualification on grounds such as defection. This is a separate process from expulsion from the party.

Singh, meanwhile, has maintained that he did nothing wrong and says the public will ultimately decide his political future.
